INSECTS/ARACHNIDS

Insects and arachnids are by far the most common pests you will encounter year round. As the temperatures warm up and  April showers begin you will see a large spike in insect congregation. Most insect species survive Illinois harsh winters through hibernation and finding micro-habitats to live in and operate. At Green Shield our insect treatments consist of but not limited to, exterior and interior spray jobs alone with a large variety of baits and granules, depending on the insect species or infestation level. All our programs consist of using the highest of quality tools and products, that have a long lasting effect on pests alone with being eco friendly. Our programs are safe around pets, children, and elderly people.

RODENTS

Rodents of all species whether its mice, rats, voles, or moles infest homes and businesses year round. But as the seasons change and temperatures plummet you will see an increase of these warm blooded mammals trying to nest in homes and other buildings. Most rodents such as mice for example are just trying to find a place to shelter as temperatures drop. When it comes to rodents, we at Green Shield use a multiple step program that consists of but not limited to using heavy duty locking, exterior bait stations on the outside of buildings and homes, along with interior baiting methods. Once the infestation has been eliminated we then go ahead and perform a rodent proofing job sealing away any holes, foundational cracks and gaps around utilities that may have been a point of entry. The last and final steps are to monitor activity levels by periodically looking for any signs of droppings and chew marks around a structure along with seasonal bait station fill-ups. Why do a seasonal bait station fill-up one might ask? The answer is quite simple! A rodent by definition is a small mammal whose teeth never stop growing. Rodents need to periodically chew on hard surfaces to keep their teeth at a appropriate length and have been known to chew through materials as hard as concrete. Keeping bait stations full of bait on the exterior of a structure will eliminate any new rodents from chewing a new entry point. All our programs consist of using the highest of quality tools and products, that have a long lasting effect on pests alone with being eco friendly. Our programs are safe around pets, children, and elderly people.

SANITATION

Whether its roach feces, rodent droppings or urine Green Shield has you covered. Our sanitation crew will show up and give you a step by step rundown on the process that will take place at your home or place of business. Sanitation services consist of, the removal of any dead rodents found, along with vacuuming any droppings left behind by rodents. With a specialized vacuum platform that uses a N-100 (HEPA) filter rated to block harmful pathogens and viruses such as the Orthohantavirus, we then go on and vacuum all contaminated areas. Although rare and many times over exaggerated, the Orthohantavirus is real and in many cases can be deadly. Hantaviruses are a family of viruses spread mainly by rodents and can cause varied disease syndromes in people worldwide. The most common hantavirus in the United States is the Sin Nombre virus, commonly spread by deer mice. During our sanitation we will remove and dispose of any items we find contaminated by feces and urine. The last and final step of a sanitation service is to sanitize all contaminated areas using a virucide/mildewcide/deodorizing spray applying it, along with fumigating voids and other open spaces. All our sanitation services are done in a eco friendly manner along with using high quality products and equipment. Our sanitation products have a long lasting residual along with eliminating any foul odors left behind by any rodents.

WDI/NPMA-33

WDI stands for wood destroying insects. There are a hand full of wood destroying insects in the state of Illinois. Termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, long horned beetles, and powder post beetles, all fall in the category of a WDI. Often times when buying or selling a home or any building, the bank wont approve a loan unless a WDI inspection has taken place. The NPMA-33 is a form required by most banks, once an inspection is completed. We at Green Shield under stand the value of time and will get that form sent out to you within a 24 hour period after inspection.
